Long Weekend that Actually Felt Long

Well, the Civic Long weekend is a great weekend because I am not sure what you are supposed to be doing other than enjoying the summer together. This weekend was wonderful because it felt very long, usually they fly by so quickly. We packed in all kinds of fun things, yet time seemed to slow down and we just enjoyed ourselves. Here is a sampling of what we were up to:

We started with some 'lion' around, sorry for the bad pun but I just couldn't help myself.
We headed to Kempenfest with some friends. The boys loved the petting zoo area.

Jude got to ride on the rollercoaster for what he says "I've been waiting my whole life to go on". He loved every minute of it!
River was too short for the roller coaster, so we headed over to ride on the dinosaur instead.

We ended with some fun on the merry go round.
Frog hunting at Wye Marsh, the boys loved it, they did not want to leave!

Jude managed to catch a frog all by himself.

Climbing up the observatory tower, great view.
We went to a special presentation about Hawks. Jude and River got feathers from a Ferruginous Hawk and a Red Tail. Before the show they loved seeing all the owls and hawks, they couldn't get enough of the birds.

Jude was lucky to get the opportunity to hold the Harris Hawk. He put the glove on, and the presenter put some food on the glove. Then the hawk swooped in for a landing. Jude had no idea what was going to happen but the picture below shows his pure delight!

We also were able to squeeze in some kite flying and a trip to get ice cream. All in all, a perfect weekend!
