Cottage Vacation

We were so blessed to head to a cottage in Haliburton with the Strik family to celebrate Jack and Audrey's 35th anniversary. It was a blast, with lots of swimming, hot tubbing,  fishing (or attempts...), games, games, games, and even a mystery dinner theatre. We were so busy having fun I didn't take any pictures, good thing Kurt remembered to snap a few.

And corn season is finally here! Jude has been asking all summer, and the boys got straight to work shucking some fresh cobs for the first time this summer.

Grundy Lake

Our annual group camping trip was awesome and I will let the pictures (and their captions) speak for themselves.
Pit stop on the way to the campground.

Camping with your friends can be very exhausting.

While rocking the puddle jumper here, Jude learned to 'swim' on the last day of our trip for the first time!

Lots of hikes, lots of dip netting and quite a bit of nature siting (frogs, turtles, muskrats, waaaay to many water snakes, and a fox)

Mmmmmm blueberries!

Dads relaxing on a very dangerous slope...Jude was very concerned.

River decided that a super hero cape was a necessary accessory for hiking around the swamp.

We even had time to relax and read books. River really enjoyed reading with his mom,

with friends,

even in the canoe!

What better way to end the week than with ice cream!

So hard to leave good friends.

Summer Update

Summer has been flying by with lots of fun activities. The kids made a list of things they wanted to do and we are busy checking things off. One was to go to the zoo so we headed to the Elmvale Zoo with the Weening clan. The kids had a blast, and saw some animals too even though I didn't take any pictures of them. If you squint you can see a parrot that Jude is talking about, they are his most favourite animal ever.

We were lucky to get a visit from Jonathan, flying in from Vancouver for a short visit. It was great to hang out and he got in some quality Uncle time. The kids also loved hanging around downtown while we waited to pick him up. We checked out the duck pond and the sprinkler pad.

We also finished up tball season, the kids were very proud of their trophies and had so much fun playing this season. They like to play in the backyard every day, they can even hit a pitched ball now!

Next up...some pics from our week at a cottage with Kurt's family followed by a week of camping at Grundy.

Mariposa

Check out all the little blondies enjoying some music in their pj's.

After cleaning up from our camping trip we headed to the Mariposa Folk Festival in Orillia. Rob and Ashley took the kids for a few days - thanks guys! We camped at the festival for a few days and then picked up the kids so they could enjoy the festival on Sunday. The Bicks and the Weenings were there to enjoy some great music outside by the waterfront. Amazing time as usual! Good to see Ang, Al and the kids, but it all ended way to soon. Until next year...

Awenda

As soon as school was out we headed to Awenda Provincial Park. Pete and Devon were visiting from Vancouver and joined us in our camping adventure. Camping without diapers is really fun and freeing, although the many, many, many trips to the bathroom were a little tiring. The boys had a great time and us adults actually managed to have some hang out time.
